Irie: This word is all about good energy and positive vibes, which is a huge part of Jamaican culture. It means you’re feeling great, everything is peaceful, or a situation is totally alright. If you’re at the beach with your friends, the sun is out, the music is good, and you have no worries, you’re literally feeling irie. It’s kind of like our word “chill” but way deeper because it implies inner peace and happiness. When someone tells you they’re irie, you know they’re in a really good headspace and nothing is stressing them out at all.
