Episode 7 is explicitly titled “Black Gavan,” making the dark-colored Gavan another major piece of the puzzle. The question is whether Black Gavan represents an alternate version of the Gavan system or a corrupted form of an existing Space Sheriff.

There is also the possibility that “Black” does not automatically mean evil. A darker Gavan could have different methods, a different interpretation of justice, or a completely different history. The mystery is therefore not simply who Black Gavan is, but what the character represents within the larger Gavan mythology.
