The first episode of MY-TH introduces Sora Otosumi, a household meister who secretly transforms into Kamen Rider My-Th to protect Yuna Mizuki and fight the mysterious Fukashigi. The story also introduces the awakening of the Twelve Zodiac Alliance, setting up a conflict between Sora’s independent activities and a group that believes it has a responsibility to confront the monsters.
By comparison, BLACK opens with Kotaro Minami’s escape from Gorgom after the organization attempts to transform him into one of its powerful Century Kings. Kotaro’s transformation is rooted in a much darker premise: the enemy has altered his body and intended to control his future. Rather than working within an established household arrangement, he becomes a hunted man fighting the organization responsible for his transformation.
The biggest similarity is that both heroes begin their journeys connected to forces they do not entirely control. The difference is the emotional atmosphere. MY-TH mixes domestic comedy, mystery and colorful animal symbolism with superhero action, whereas BLACK establishes danger, betrayal and body horror from the beginning. MY-TH’s secret identity creates curiosity about Sora’s double life; BLACK’s origin makes Kotaro’s struggle for freedom the foundation of the series.
