Even if Reiji is the Gavan of his universe, there may have been an earlier Gavan whose story was erased or forgotten. Such a predecessor could explain why the technology exists and why the title carries so much authority.

A forgotten predecessor would also give the series an opportunity to connect its modern multiverse story to the older Space Sheriff mythology while creating a mystery specifically tied to Reiji’s universe.
