After the dinosaur-themed Zyuranger and Abaranger, Kyoryuger created another totally different dinosaur world. The Rangers were chosen by the Spirits of the Dinosaurs and partnered with mechanical dinosaurs called Zyudenryu. Instead of simply repeating the ancient-warrior concept from Zyuranger, Kyoryuger mixed prehistoric creatures with modern technology, music, dancing, and an energetic superhero style.

The team’s transformation devices were called Gaburevolvers, while their dinosaur-powered batteries were known as Zyudenchi. Those batteries could be inserted into the Rangers’ equipment to activate different powers. This gave the season a collectible and highly expandable power system while keeping the dinosaur theme at the center.

Kyoryuger also had a particularly large team compared with many traditional Super Sentai seasons. Several additional Kyoryugers appeared throughout the story, each associated with different colors and dinosaur powers. That gave the series a much broader sense of scale than a simple five-person team.

Another memorable feature was the season’s emphasis on dancing and music. The ending dance became particularly famous among viewers, and the show leaned into a celebratory, almost party-like atmosphere. That was a sharp contrast to the darker emotional stories found in some previous seasons.

Kyoryuger ultimately showed that dinosaurs could still work as a Super Sentai theme decades after they had already been used. The key was giving the concept a completely different personality. Instead of ancient warriors, Kyoryuger presented dinosaur-powered heroes as energetic modern adventurers connected by courage and a love of life.
