Did You Know? Super Sentai has repeatedly changed the number of heroes without abandoning the team concept?

Although audiences often imagine Super Sentai as five Rangers, the franchise has never been permanently locked into that number. Some teams have begun with three members, some have expanded to six or more, and others have experienced replacements.

This flexibility allows the number of heroes to match the story. A smaller group can feel more intimate, while a larger team can create a bigger sense of organization and spectacle.

Liveman, for example, began with three central heroes before expanding. Hurricaneger also began with a smaller core group before additional warriors became important.

The extra-Ranger tradition later became so popular that some seasons featured enormous collections of warriors, especially anniversary productions or teams with multiple auxiliary heroes.

So the five-person team is better understood as a familiar template rather than an unbreakable rule. Super Sentai has spent decades proving that the basic idea works even when the number of heroes changes.
