Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger gave its heroes a police identity.

The Rangers belonged to the Special Police Dekaranger organization and dealt with criminals from different planets and species.

That meant the series could create many different alien cultures, criminals, laws, and forms of justice.

The police concept also influenced the Rangers’ personalities. They had ranks, procedures, training, and a chain of command.

Dekaranger successfully transformed the familiar Super Sentai team structure into something resembling a futuristic police squad.
