Dengeki Sentai Changeman gave its team a military background, making the Rangers members of a disciplined organization rather than ordinary civilians who suddenly receive powers.
That meant teamwork could be portrayed as part of their training. They already understood orders, formations, strategy, and battlefield responsibility.
Their military identity also created a stronger sense that they were defending Earth as a professional fighting unit. The villains were not simply monsters appearing randomly; the conflict had a larger strategic dimension.
At the same time, the characters retained individual personalities, preventing the team from becoming completely emotionless soldiers.
Changeman showed that Super Sentai could use military storytelling while still keeping the colorful personality and character relationships that made the franchise appealing.
