Change Robo is the main giant robot of Dengeki Sentai Changeman, which debuted in 1985. It combines Change Jet 1 and Change Jet 2 and incorporates the season’s dragon, griffin, pegasus, and mermaid imagery into its overall design language. Change Robo is strongly associated with the team’s military background because the Changemen begin as members of the Japanese Self-Defense Force. Its primary weapon, the Change Sword, complements a combat style based around disciplined attacks and powerful finishing techniques. The robot therefore combines the imagery of a military super-robot with the fantastical animal mythology central to the season.
