Rude bwoy / Rude gyal: Don’t let the word “rude” fool you, because this isn’t actually about being mean to people. A rude boy or rude girl is someone who is tough, rebellious, street-smart, and absolutely refuses to be pushed around. It comes from the whole dancehall and reggae culture where you have to have a certain edge to survive. If a girl is super confident, wears what she wants, and doesn’t care what anyone thinks about her, she’s a rude gyal. It’s a badge of honor that shows you have backbone and you’re not afraid to stand up for yourself.
