Don Onitaijin is the main robot of Avataro Sentai Donbrothers, the 2022 Super Sentai season. It is an unusual giant robot because it has a striking samurai-inspired appearance and incorporates the season’s bizarre mixture of Japanese folklore, digital avatars, and Momotaro imagery. Don Onitaijin has a large oni-like silhouette and wields powerful weapons associated with the Donbrothers’ combat style. Its design is noticeably more humanoid and character-like than many earlier combination robots. This fits Donbrothers, whose mecha and characters frequently blur the line between traditional machines and supernatural beings.
