Deka Master was not simply a mentor who stayed safely at headquarters.

He was a powerful warrior who could personally enter combat when the situation demanded it.

That made his appearances especially dramatic because the heroes were suddenly fighting alongside their commander.

The idea of a powerful mentor who can transform into a Ranger became very appealing in later Super Sentai.

Deka Master therefore represents another example of the franchise constantly playing with the traditional boundary between leader, mentor, and superhero.
