Bakuryuu Sentai Abaranger returned to the dinosaur concept more than a decade after Zyuranger.

But it did not simply repeat Zyuranger. It introduced a different mythology involving Dino Earth and a new group of dinosaur-based heroes.

The dinosaurs were also closely connected to the show’s mecha, creating a new interpretation of the classic dinosaur-robot formula.

Ryoga Hakua, Abaranger’s Red Ranger, was also a more mature hero than many previous Red Rangers.

Abaranger proved that Super Sentai could revisit an old theme without simply copying its earlier version.
