Ninja Sentai Kakuranger centered heavily on ninja traditions and Japanese folklore.

The villains included numerous creatures based on yokai and other legendary beings, allowing the show to transform old stories into modern superhero enemies.

This gave the monsters a different feeling from purely mechanical or alien villains.

The heroes also used ninja techniques, stealth, weapons, and specialized mecha connected to Japanese cultural imagery.

Kakuranger demonstrated how effectively Super Sentai could take traditional folklore and turn it into colorful weekly action-adventure storytelling.
