Abaranger returned to one of the franchise’s most successful themes: dinosaurs. The season introduced a new generation of dinosaur-powered heroes with an entirely different mythology from Zyuranger.

The dinosaurs were connected to a parallel world known as Dino Earth. This allowed the series to combine prehistoric creatures with alternate-dimension science fiction.

The main Rangers were associated with Tyrannosaurus, Triceratops, and Pteranodon imagery.

Abaranger also added unusual characters and transformations that made the season considerably stranger than a simple dinosaur remake.

The popularity of dinosaur themes within Super Sentai showed that the concept remained effective even after earlier dinosaur seasons had already become major hits.
