Bioman is particularly important because Mika Koizumi, the original Yellow Four, was replaced after her character’s death.

Jun Yabuki then became the second Yellow Four.

This was an unusual development because the replacement character was not simply another male hero taking over.

The storyline demonstrated that a Ranger identity could continue even after the original hero was gone.

It also gave the season a more dramatic emotional storyline than many earlier entries.
