What if Finster rebelled against Rita?

Finster was the quiet, unassuming genius behind Rita’s monsters. If he had snapped, realizing he was the true mastermind and decided to overthrow Rita, it would have been a brilliant twist. His monsters, which were usually loyal, could have been programmed to turn on Goldar and the Putties, throwing the lunar palace into absolute chaos.

Rita would have been rendered utterly helpless. Without Finster to build her monsters, her only remaining assets would be Goldar’s brawn and her own magic, which was often unpredictable. We would have seen a storyline where Rita is forced to flee the palace, perhaps even seeking temporary asylum on Earth or making a desperate pact with Zedd to save her own skin.

Finster as a primary villain would have been uniquely terrifying. He’s not a loud, boastful fighter; he’s a methodical, creative scientist. His attacks on Angel Grove would have been precise, using monsters designed not just to fight the Rangers, but to psychologically torment them. He would have been the Jigsaw of the Power Rangers universe.

The Rangers would have struggled to adapt. They were used to brute force and giant sword slashes. Fighting a villain who relies on traps, psychological warfare, and intricate plots would have required Billy to step up as the primary strategist. It would have shifted the show’s genre from action to sci-fi mystery.

I always loved Finster because he reminded me of a mad scientist from old movies. Seeing him go full supervillain would have been a wild ride. It’s a shame the show never really explored the internal politics of the villain’s castle. Giving the weird little clay-sculpting guy a moment of absolute power would have been legendary.
