Straight: This is the ultimate quick response to say that everything is okay, a plan is understood, or a situation is sorted out. If you explain to your friend that you’re going to pick them up at 8 PM, they won’t text a long paragraph back; they’ll just text “straight.” It means “message received, we’re good to go.” It’s the most efficient word in the Jamaican vocabulary because it eliminates all overthinking. When someone says “straight,” you know there is no confusion and you can just move on with your day.
