Badmind: This is arguably one of the most important words in the whole slang dictionary because it perfectly describes a very specific type of toxic person. “Badmind” means you are intensely jealous, envious, or secretly hating on someone else’s success. If you buy a new car and your so-called friend starts making snarky comments about it instead of being happy for you, they have a badmind. It’s the exact equivalent of being a “hater” in our culture. Jamaicans take this very seriously because they believe badmind can actually ruin your energy, so they will quickly cut off anyone who shows those traits.
