This episode completely flips the script on what we usually expect from a Gotham crime story, dropping us into a dark, psychological ride. The plot mainly tracks Eddie “The Riddler” Nygma after he guns down an ex-cop and forms a toxic partnership with a mysterious woman named Thorn. Instead of the usual cat-and-mouse riddle games, we get a tragic, gritty look at Rose Forrest, a deep-cut comic character whose traumatic past triggers an entirely different, lethal persona.

The character work here is what really sets it apart. The creators didn’t just give us a standard Poison Ivy clone, even though the whole flower-shop vibe initially hints at it. Instead, Rose’s transformation after her father’s murder plays out like a genuine psychological split. The dynamic between her and this incredibly volatile, trigger-happy version of the Riddler is wild to watch. When Batman finally steps in to handle the chaos, his closing line about her having “one really bad day” hits heavy, perfectly tying her descent into madness to classic comic lore.

The animation during the gunfights and action scenes is super atmospheric, capturing that moody Gotham tension perfectly.
